2nd Scientific Meeting on Hellinistic Pottery - Rhodes 1989

The island of Rhodes was chosen as a meeting place for the second Scientific Meeting for the Hellenistic pottery. The island is considered as one of the most important Hellenistic centers in antiquity as well as a significant port for the eastern Mediterranean with great importance to the maritime navigation routes.

Due to its economic and commercial bloom, the island was considered as one of the greatest centers of art and craft of many products. The Scientific Meeting was organized by the local service of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities.

There was a large participation of Greek and foreign archaeologists, specialists in the subject. During the Meeting, the central theme that prevailed and eventually consolidated, was the dating of Hellenistic pottery and its methodology.
